Police investigating two separate deaths in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Mass. — Officials are investigating two separate and unrelated deaths in Lawrence on Thursday, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office announced.

According to authorities, Massachusetts State Police were dispatched to the area of Bay State Road for a fatal shooting. Once there, troopers pronounced a 44-year-old man dead on the scene.

Then, later in the afternoon, officers were dispatched to the Merrimack River for reports of a deceased woman in the water. The victim’s body was recovered, and their identity has not yet been confirmed.
