LOWELL, Mass. — First responders in Lowell are investigating after a serious crash involving a police cruiser and a pedestrian.
According to Lowell police, the accident happened on Wilder Street at Bachelder.
Police confirmed that the accident did involve a police cruiser.
The accident occurred near the UMass Lowell campus. Boston 25 reached out to the school for a statement, who provided the following:
<i>Earlier this evening a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near the intersection of Broadway and Wilder Street, outside the McGauvran Center on UMass Lowell’s South Campus.</i>
<i>The thoughts of the UMass Lowell community are with those involved in this tragic incident. The university will be making counseling resources available on Friday to members of the UMass Lowell community who witnessed the incident and are in need of support.</i>
<i>There are no further details available from the university at this time.</i>

The crash is currently under investigation by Lowell police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (C.A.R.S.)
