Police investigation underway after person taken to the hospital following fire in Stoughton

STOUGHTON, Mass. — An investigation involving Stoughton Police and Fire is underway in the area of Central Street between Pearl Street and Station Street.

Stoughton Fire Chief Michael Carroll said that one 911 call came in around 5:45 PM for a reported fire. Crews arrived on scene to find that a home on Central Street had smoke pouring out of it.

“Crews did an unbelievable job getting water on that fire very quickly,” Chief Carroll said.

Upon searching the building, fire crews found one victim who had suffered burn injuries. They were transported to the hospital, where their condition was knocked down.

The State Fire Marshal has been called in to respond. Chief Carroll added that it was a police investigation after a gun was found on the scene.

Police announced that the previously mentioned area would be closed as the investigation continues.

Police added that there is no “ongoing threat to public safety” and that motorists should seek an alternate route.
