PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Jurors in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial on Thursday heard from the pediatrician who treated the Clancy children throughout their lives, with the doctor testifying that the children appeared healthy and happy and that she considered Clancy a concerned and attentive mother.

Dr. Lindsay Rosshirt, who previously worked at South Shore Medical, took the stand on the eighth day of testimony in Norfolk Superior Court.
Rosshirt told jurors she never believed Lindsay Clancy needed a referral for postpartum resources based on their interactions. She testified that the children appeared to be thriving and that Clancy consistently appeared engaged in their care.
The pediatrician also treated the family on Jan. 24, 2023, the day prosecutors say Clancy killed her three children by strangling them with exercise bands. That visit was for daughter Cora Clancy’s 5-year wellness checkup.
During questioning by prosecutors, Rosshirt testified she noticed nothing out of the ordinary about Clancy’s demeanor, behavior, or interactions during the appointment. She said Clancy was able to discuss Cora’s development, answer questions about milestones, and communicate normally.
Asked whether she had any difficulty understanding Clancy during the visit, Rosshirt replied, “No.”
During cross-examination, defense attorneys asked whether Rosshirt knew Clancy had previously been treated at McLean Hospital or had been prescribed psychiatric medications. The doctor said she was unaware of that history at the time.
When asked about her overall impression of Clancy as a parent, Rosshirt told jurors, “I always thought she was a good mom.”
Medical examiner testimony continues
Before Rosshirt took the stand, jurors heard testimony from the medical examiner who performed autopsies on Clancy’s three children.
The testimony focused largely on 8-month-old Callan Clancy, the youngest of the three children. The medical examiner described in detail the circumstances surrounding his death.
As that testimony unfolded, courtroom cameras showed Lindsay Clancy appearing emotional and crying throughout much of the proceedings.
The judge previously ordered that autopsy photographs of the children be impounded. The images will be shown to jurors but will not be released to the public.
Thursday marks the eighth day of testimony in the closely watched trial, which centers on Clancy’s mental state at the time of the deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan.
