Passenger of driver busted for OUI arrested after allegedly driving drunk to Franklin Police Station

FRANKLIN, Mass. — Two people were arrested on drunk driving charges following separate incidents involving the same vehicle in Franklin late Thursday night, according to police.

An officer conducting traffic enforcement on King Street around 10 p.m. stopped a vehicle that was traveling faster than the posted speed limit, according to the Franklin Police Department. After an on‑scene investigation, the driver, a 24‑year‑old Franklin resident, was arrested.

The driver, whose name hasn’t been released, is charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, and possession of an open container of alcohol. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police said a passenger in the vehicle also showed signs of alcohol impairment. The passenger was not charged at the time and was instead provided a ride home.

About an hour later, around 11:15 p.m., officers say the same passenger arrived at the Franklin Police Department and asked to speak with a desk officer. After reviewing surveillance footage and conducting an investigation, police determined that the individual had driven to the police station while impaired.

That person, a 27‑year‑old New Hampshire resident, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol.

No injuries were reported in either incident.
