One person hurt following Brockton shooting, police say

BROCKTON, Mass. — One person was injured following a shooting in Brockton on Thursday afternoon, police said.

And while investigating the shooting, police arrested two people, seizing illegal drugs from the suspects, police said. Charges related to the discharge of a firearm may be pending at a later date.

One victim found near the scene refused ambulance transport to the hospital, police said. Their injuries were unknown Thursday.

Brockton Police responded to reports of a shooting in the vicinity of 675 Crescent St. at t 4:24 p.m., a police spokesman said.

Reports indicated that a man in a black SUV fired on a small light-colored sedan.

ShotSpotter, the city’s gunshot detection system, detected 19 rounds fired in the area.

The dark SUV sped off eastbound on Crescent Street, heading towards Whitman.

Brockton Police notified police departments in the area to be on the lookout for a vehicle matching the description.

Investigators canvassed the area, and police were searching for the vehicles and possible suspects.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Brockton Police detectives 508-941-0234. Callers may remain anonymous and Brockton Police said they will guard and protect the identities of those who wish to help anonymously.
