LOWELL, Mass. — Lowell Police say one person is dead and five others are injured following a crash involving three cars on Friday morning.
At about 4:45 a.m., Lowell Police responded to a call for a multi-vehicle crash on School Street, in the area of Branch Street.
At the scene, officials found a 40-year-old woman who was unresponsive and was transported to Lowell General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to authorities, five other people, including two men with serious injuries and three other people, including a minor, with non-life threatening injuries, were transported to area hospitals and treated.
Preliminary investigation shows that a white Honda, driven by a man, had been travelling on School Street when the driver lost control and veered off into the opposite lane, crashing head-on into another car, a blue Hyundai. The Hyundai, which had been traveling northbound, then struck a blue Acura.
This crash remains under investigation.
No arrests have been made at this time.
