BRAINTREE, Mass. — A tree worker was thrown to the ground and pinned under the bucket of his truck in Braintree on Friday afternoon.
Around 3:00 p.m., fire officials responded to the area of Mayflower Road for a report of a construction accident.
A man, believed to be in his 30′s, was trapped underneath the bucket of a tree lift he was working on. Braintree firefighters began digging with their hands to free him, which took about 20 minutes.
A preliminary investigation determined that an equipment failure caused the victim to be thrown from the top of his lift to the ground. The lift then tipped over on top of him.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with severe lower body injuries. He was conscious and alert while being moved to an ambulance.
The Braintree Police Department and OSHA are both investigating the incident.
