New Hampshire grocery store destroyed in massive fire

WOLFEBORO, N.H. — A popular family-owned grocery store in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region was destroyed in a massive fire that broke out on Monday night.

Crews responding to a report of blaze at Hunter’s Shop ‘n Save on South Main Street after 9 p.m. found the building engulfed in flames, according to the Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue Department.

Video and photos from the scene showed flames shooting from the grocery store as thick plumes of smoke consumed the neighborhood.

There were no reported injuries in the fire and damage was contained to the building that housed the store.

“By now you are probably aware of the fire at Hunters Shop and Save,” Wolfeboro fire officials said in a statement. “Please keep the staff and management of Hunter’s in your thoughts.”

The fire broke out about an hour after the grocery store closed for the night.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
