Update: Victim identified in fatal motorcycle crash on Massachusetts Turnpike in Boston

BOSTON — Authorities are investigating after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Boston late Monday night.

Mark Ganong, 54, of Waltham, was pronounced dead at the scene after he lost control of his motorcycle and struck the median, according to State Police.

The crash happened on the eastbound stretch of the highway that runs through the city’s Allston section around 11 p.m. The left lanes of the Mass Pike east and westbound were closed for hours while troopers investigated the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.

It is unclear if speed or the weather was a factor.
