Moped driver flown to hospital after crash with SUV on I-495 ramp in Taunton

TAUNTON, Mass — A moped driver was flown to the hospital with serious injuries following a crash on an Interstate 495 ramp in Taunton on Friday morning, officials said.

Officers responding to a report of a crash near a highway off-ramp in the area of Bay Street around 6:30 a.m. found a moped that had collided with a GMC Acadia, according to the Taunton Police Department.

The moped driver, who police identified as a 60-year-old man, was taken to the parking lot of a BJ’s and then flown to a local hospital. There was no immediate word on his condition.

The driver of the Acadia, a 47-year-old Carver woman, wasn’t hurt in the crash.

It’s not clear if charges will be filed in connection with the wreck.

An investigation remains ongoing.
