BOXBOROUGH, Mass. — A condo complex went up in flames Wednesday early evening. Families with their small children were out in the cold as they stood there in shock. One woman tells Boston 25 News, her daughter heard someone banging on the door, saying get out.

“I just wanted to save my life,” said a woman named Terry who lives at the complex.

Terry who only wants to share her first name is devastated, after she ran out of her apartment on Swanson road.

Sky 25 was over the 4-alarm fire at the condo complex where you can see orange flames shooting from the roof.

“All of a sudden my bathroom water started pouring down, and the smoke came in,” said Terry.

Boxborough fire Chief Paul Fillebrown says 24 of the apartments were occupied.

The challenge here, the chief says, there are no fire hydrants here, and the town relies on water from the ponds, making it an issue to get water to hose down the massive fire.

“The challenging part was evacuating the people out of the building. Some people didn’t realize the fire was going,” said Fillebrown.

Dozens of families were forced out in the cold, one woman was on her way home when she saw fire surrounding her apartment complex.

“My daughter lives on the second floor. She’s OK? She was in the shower. She had to go run out in the cold,” said Maryanne Faumessy, a resident.

“I lost everything. My pictures, my children’s pictures, gone,” said Terry.

The good news here, the fire chief tells us, everyone made it out safely, and there were no injuries reported. Other residents tell us they lost their beloved pets in the fire. Residents are getting help, where they are staying at a nearby hotel.
