Massachusetts named one of happiest states in America in new report

Mass — Massachusetts has been named one of the happiest states in America in new report.

The report released by NiceRx looked at US state mental health statistics, life expectancy, household income, homicide rates, state safety and poverty levels to determine a happiness score for each state.

Massachusetts received a happiness score of 8.34.

The reported that determined the happiness score revealed the following:

  • The average life expectancy in Massachusetts is 79 years
  • The average household has an income of around $115,964
  • There have been 2.7 homicides reported per 100,000 people
  • The state’s safety score is 61.83
  • The poverty rate in this state is 9.85%

Among Massachusetts, the top 10 happiest states are:

  1. Hawaii
  2. Connecticut
  3. Massachusetts
  4. New Jersey
  5. Minnesota
  6. New Hampshire
  7. Washington
  8. Utah
  9. California
  10. Maryland
