BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — The Bridgewater Little League team is one step closer to the Little League World Series and is headed to Connecticut this weekend to compete in the New England Regional Tournament.
Players, coaches, and families gathered Friday morning at Legion Field for a sendoff rally before boarding a bus to Bristol, where the regional tournament will be held.
The 12-year-old squad earned its spot in the regional after defeating Parkway Little League in the Massachusetts state championship game last Sunday in Holden. The victory crowned Bridgewater as the 2026 Massachusetts Little League state champion and marked the program’s second state title in the last three years.
Bridgewater’s first game is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. against Gray-New Gloucester Little League of Maine.
Bridgewater will need to win three consecutive games in the regional tournament to earn a berth in the Little League World Series.
The team’s bus was scheduled to depart Legion Field at 7 a.m. as players set off on what they hope will be a championship journey to Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
