MARSHFIELD, Mass. — Marshfield police were on the scene of a gas leak shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, where an outside contractor hit a gas main while digging to install a new pole.
A Columbia Gas spokesperson told Boston 25 News 20 buildings had to be evacuated for about an hour and a half. The gas was shut off to the area.
Police say the incident happened in the area of Plymouth Avenue and Joseph Dribeek Way near Brant Rock Market.
Everyone has been allowed to return home, the spokesperson said. However, three homes remain without service.
Roads in the area also reopened.
