MANCHESTER, NH — A man is dead after running onto a New Hampshire highway while trying to evade police and was struck by a car on Wednesday, officials say.
Around 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, a New Hampshire State Police trooper attempted to stop a 2026 Toyota Camry that was racing down I-93 North in Manchester, a state police spokesperson told Boston 25 News.
Police say the driver did not stop and continued to speed on the highway with the trooper in pursuit until it took Exit 6.
The Toyota then crashed on the Hanover Street Connector. Police say the suspect then ran from the crashed vehicle and back toward I-93.
The man allegedly climbed up and over the embankment and ran onto the northbound lanes, where he was struck by a Hyundai Elantra.
The driver of the Hyundai, Jakob Cadorette, of Epsom, immediately pulled over and called 911, police say.
First responders arrived and determined the suspect who fled from the crash was deceased at the scene.
Cadorette was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation, police say.
The name of the deceased suspect has not been released at this time.
