EVERETT, Mass. — A man was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital with life-threatening injuries after an SUV crashed into a triple-decker in Everett early Monday morning, but police have confirmed that the driver has since passed away.

Everett police said a man and a woman were in the SUV when it crashed. Only the man was transported to the hospital and has since died. The crash happened at approximately 12:20 a.m. at 860 Broadway.

A representative from the city said no one in the triple-decker had to be evacuated, and all residents could stay in their apartments for the night. The Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting Everett police with the investigation into the crash.

The SUV sustained heavy frontend damage, and at least one window of the home was smashed out from where the vehicle came crashing through. The triple-decker’s front porch was also damaged.

At one point, emergency crews brought out a white sheet. The building inspector was called to assess the damage.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
