Malden man arrested after allegedly falling asleep on Orange Line with firearm

MALDEN, Mass. — A Malden man is facing multiple charges after allegedly falling asleep with a firearm on the Orange Line Wednesday at approximately 7:15 p.m.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority told Boston 25 News Transit Police officers received a radio call for a man sleeping on an Orange Line train and who was also in possession of a firearm.

When officers arrived at the scene, the train pulled into Forest Hills MBTA station. Officers immediately entered the train car and found a man, later identified as Kamil Mogielnicki, 37, of Malden, asleep on his left side.

Officers found a 9 mm Ruger that contained a fully loaded magazine protruding from Mogielnicki’s waistband before quickly removing, securing the firearm, and waking Mogielnicki up. Shortly after, they discovered that Mogielnicki was not licensed to carry a firearm and found person-controlled narcotics packaged in a way consistent for resale, authorities say.

The man was placed under arrest and brought to Transit Police Department. MBTA Transit Police confirm Mogielnicki is facing multiple firearm and drug-related offenses.
