BOSTON — Attention Boston Catholics: break out the salt and seasoning because you can put meat back on your plate this St. Patrick’s Day.
Typically, Catholics abstain from eating meat on Fridays during Lent but the Archdiocese of Boston is granting a “one-day only dispensation” for the observation.
Saint Patrick is the patron saint of the Archdiocese of Boston.
“Given the importance of this feast in the life of the Archdiocese and in the lives of many Catholics, Cardinal Seán is granting a dispensation from the Friday Lenten abstinence on March 17, 2023, to those who wish to take advantage of this opportunity,” the Archdiocese wrote on Facebook.
