Lindsay Clancy trial: Psychiatrist who treated Duxbury mom expected to testify

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Testimony in the Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial continues Friday, with jurors expected to hear from one of the psychiatrists involved in the Duxbury mother’s treatment before the deaths of her three children.

Dr. Jennifer Tufts is expected to take the stand in Plymouth Superior Court as the trial enters its ninth day. Tufts is also among the medical providers named in a malpractice lawsuit filed by Lindsay Clancy and her husband, Patrick Clancy.

The testimony follows another emotional day Thursday.

On Day 8, Lindsay Clancy was seen crying as jurors heard from a state medical examiner, who detailed the fatal injuries suffered by 8-month-old Callan Clancy.

Later in the day, Clancy’s former father-in-law testified, describing her as a devoted mother.

“She was very, very good. She fed them great,” Christopher Clancy told the court. “She did a lot of things with them. They were like the All-American family.”

A lifelong friend also testified that days before the murders, Lindsay confided that she was having some dark thoughts.

Clancy is charged with killing her three children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan, at the family’s Duxbury home in January 2023 before attempting to take her own life.

Prosecutors allege she was criminally responsible for her actions, while the defense argues she was suffering from severe postpartum mental illness, was overmedicated, and did not receive appropriate treatment.
