MAYNARD, Mass. — A 21-year-old Leominster man is facing a slew of charges including four counts of armed assault to murder after a shooting last weekend that left three teenagers seriously injured.
Rodney Steven Laventure was arrested Saturday and charged with armed assault to murder – 4 Counts, assault and battery With a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury – 3 Counts, attempted assault and battery with a firearm – 3 Counts, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, Carrying a Firearm Without a License and Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
Laventure was arrested after he arranged to turn himself in to Maynard Police and Massachusetts State Police at the Leominster Police headquarters for a warrant that was issued in connection with the shooting that took place in Maynard on Aug. 21.
In the early morning hours of Aug. 21, Maynard Police were dispatched to 2 Cindy Lane for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police found three teenage victims who had suffered gunshot wounds and that the individual or individuals responsible were no longer on scene.
A preliminary investigation found that the shooting occurred during a party at the home, which grew beyond the number of expected guests.
The arrest comes as part of a joint investigation by the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s office and the Maynard Police Department. Assisting in the investigation were Acton, Concord and Sudbury Police.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
