At least 40 people evacuated following high-rise fire in Boston

BOSTON — At least 40 people were evacuated on Friday following a fire in a 20+ story apartment building in Boston, the fire department announced.

The incident occurred Friday evening, when firefighters were dispatched to the area of 860 Harrison Avenue to reports of a fire on the 20th floor. Once there, fire crews struck a second alarm for mutual aid and began evacuating residents.

40+ residents from the building’s 20th and 21st floors were evacuated. Three of whom were taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Fire crews say that the cause of the fire appeared to be from electric scooters, prompting the hazmat team to respond and remove them.
