EVERETT, Mass. — A landscaping truck crashed into a bank in Everett on Thursday morning, prompting a large emergency response.

The crash happened at the Eastern Bank on Revere Beach Parkway, not far from Chelsea High School.

Video captured by a Boston 25 News photographer showed a gaping hole in the left side of the building near the drive-up banking lanes and ATMs, along with debris scattered in the parking lot.

Everett Deputy Fire Chief Craig Hardy says the driver of the truck appears to have suffered a medical emergency before the crash.

The driver, whose name hasn’t been released, was pulled out of the truck by an Everett police officer and taken to a Boston hospital, according to Hardy. A passenger in the truck was also hospitalized.

There was no immediate word on the severity of their injuries.

Hardy said the damage to the building is “pretty bad,” noting that it’s “fortunate” the crash happened before the bank opened for business.

The bank will be closed until an inspector evaluates the building’s integrity.
