SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Police are trying to track down the car involved in a hit-and-run and say they got a little help from the driver.
Sources say they have not seen the actual car, but while looking at evidence on the ground afterward, they found a headlight casing revealing that it was an orange Subaru Crosstrek with front-end damage.
Sources say it happened around 7:30 pm Monday as the victim was using the crosswalk on Mystic Avenue and Shore Drive. That’s when the driver hit him and took off eastbound on Mystic Avenue toward Assembly Square.
Mass State Police reopened the scene just before 9 p.m. but spent an hour reconstructing the accident to get an idea of what exactly happened. People who live nearby, however, say they have a good idea.
“This intersection is crazy,” said Shyheim Silva, who lives nearby. “It’s not safe. Everybody just goes.”
Medics took the man to the hospital with serious injuries. The good news, as of right now, he is expected to survive.
