YMCA celebrates 175 years in Boston
The YMCA of Greater Boston is marking a major milestone this weekend as America’s first YMCA celebrates its 175th anniversary.
The free event will take place Sunday, Aug. 23, from noon to 5 p.m. at Boston City Hall Plaza. Visitors can enjoy live entertainment, face painting, food trucks, raffles, and other family-friendly activities.
Organizers say the celebration is open to the public and highlights the YMCA’s long history of serving communities across Greater Boston.
Marshfield Fair opens on the South Shore
The Marshfield Fair is back for its 158th year, bringing midway rides, games, live entertainment, agricultural exhibits, animals, and plenty of classic fair food.
The annual fair opens Friday and runs through Aug. 30. Admission prices and operating hours vary by day.
Fairgoers can expect many of the traditions that have made the event a South Shore favorite for generations, along with attractions for all ages.
Kids get in free at Old Sturbridge Village
Families looking for an educational day trip can take advantage of Old Sturbridge Village’s “Kids Free August” promotion.
Visitors can receive free admission for up to two children when they purchase an adult or senior general admission ticket and use the code SUN26.
The living history museum is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering guests a chance to experience life in 19th-century New England through interactive exhibits, historic buildings, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.
