MIDDLETOWN, R.I. — A turkey from Rhode Island that has gained popularity online over the last year for its tendency to walk in the middle of traffic has a new home.
“Gravy” was hit by a car in Nov. 2025 and has since lived in an animal shelter.
After recovering, the turkey was released back into the wild, but he went back to walking on the roads.
Gravy now has a permanent home, away from cars, at the Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island in North Kingstown.
Chief Operating Officer at the Wildlife Clinic Arianna Mouradijan said he appeared to be adapting to his new home.
“He’s doing very well. He’s fully flighted now. He’s able to get to our high perches...We are kind of figuring out how to continue to update Gravy’s followers in a manner that kind of respects our time and his privacy for a lack of a better term.”
Mouradijan said Gravy will become part of the clinic’s educational program for visitors.
