FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — After nearly 20 years, Gillette Stadium will no longer host Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association high school football state championship games.
The MIAA said in a statement that it was informed Monday that use of the stadium was “no longer an option.”
“We thank the Patriots organization for hosting this event for nearly two decades,” the organization said.
The 2026 MIAA Football Tournament begins this week, and the MIAA said it will work diligently to secure host sites that provide “the best possible championship experience for our student athletes and our school communities.”
“For nearly two decades, Gillette Stadium and the Kraft family have been proud to donate the use of Gillette Stadium and host the MIAA football state championship games during the first week of December,” said a spokesperson for Gillette Stadium.
“Due to scheduling constraints and the associated logistics from the Revolution’s playoff schedule and the Patriots home game on December 6, Gillette Stadium will unfortunately be unable to host the state championship games this year. We wish all the schools, student-athletes and their families the best of luck with this year’s games and look forward to hosting this event again in the future.”
A spokesperson said that due to their winter sports schedule, the MIAA cannot have their eight football state championship games take place later than the first week of December.
The Revolution could host home playoff matches on December 2 and 5, with both teams needing to practice on the stadium field each of the days preceding a match, which are on December 1 and December 4. The Patriots also host the Bills at Gillette Stadium on December 6
