Mass. — Gas prices across the country continue to climb — and Massachusetts drivers are feeling the impact, though not as sharply as the rest of the nation.

According to AAA, the average price of gas in Massachusetts is now $3.86 per gallon, up from $3.77 last week and $2.91 just one month ago. That’s a 95‑cent increase in 30 days.

Nationally, the average price has reached $4.08 per gallon, marking the first time since 2022 that gas has crossed the four‑dollar threshold. The last spike followed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

This year’s surge comes after the U.S. and Israel launched air strikes in Iran on February 28. The conflict has disrupted global supply chains and driven up crude oil prices. President Trump has said the U.S. is producing more oil and gas than Saudi Arabia and Russia combined, and urged allies who rely on oil shipped through the Strait of Hormuz to begin sourcing more from the United States.

“This short-term increase has been entirely the result of the Iranian regime launching deranged terror attacks against commercial oil tankers and neighboring countries,” Trump said.

Drivers in Massachusetts will find the steepest prices in Boston, on the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, and at stations located directly off major highways.

At the Newton service plaza, for example, gas is currently $4.19 per gallon.
