MEDFORD, Mass. — Trooper Tamar Bucci joined the state police in 2020 and was recently assigned to the Medford barracks near where here family lives. Trooper Tamara Bucci was just as impressive when she was off duty. Pat Catino was a close friend of Bucci. “Everyone gravitated to her. She lit up the room when she walked in and she was a pleasure to be around,” said Catino.

The 34 year-old worked at Assembly Sports Club before she joined the Massachusetts State Police in 2020. Her former co-workers who are now close friends say Trooper Bucci was special in so many ways. Jo-Anne Sullivan is the General Manager at Assembly Sports Club. “She was a very kind and loving girl. In the atmosphere we live in today that is hard to find,” said Cortino.

In a gym promotional video you can see first hand her love for helping others. “Alright guys if you like that work out come in and see us and if you haven’t had your complimentary fitness assessment we are here for you,” said Bucci.

Trooper Bucci graduated from Andover High School in 2006. The flag out front was lowered to half staff and the community was planning a moment of silence at Friday night’s games. Andover Public Schools Communication Director Nicole Kieser released this statement:

“Andover Public Schools offers our condolences to the family, friends, and her colleagues at the Massachusetts State Police as we mourn the loss of Trooper Tamar Bucci, who gave her life in the line of duty last evening when her cruiser was struck by another vehicle. Trooper Bucci was a 2006 graduate of Andover High School. In line with Governor Baker’s orders, our flags will be at half staff to honor her memory. At our Andover Girls’ Hockey and Girls’ Basketball games this evening, we will be asking those in attendance to participate in a moment of silence.”

Trooper Bucci’s friends say she was killed while doing what she loved. “That was her childhood dream, she told me. Her childhood dream. Not a police officer. A state trooper,” said Sullivan.

Friday evening, Boston 25 News Reporter Christine McCarthy attended events in Trooper Bucci’s hometown of Andover, where moments of silence were held in her honor.
