Former Patriots star Matthew Slater joins BC High football team coaching staff

BOSTON — A former star with the New England Patriots is joining the Boston College High School football team’s coaching staff.
Matthew Slater, a longtime Patriots special teams’ standout, All-Pro, Super Bowl champion, and team captain, will serve as Assistant Head Coach for Leadership and Player Development.
“It is a privilege to work alongside a school so deeply committed to developing young men of character,” said Slater. “Football is one of the greatest classrooms for teaching life’s most important lessons.”
During his 16-year career with the Patriots, Slater earned 10 Pro Bowl selections, All-Pro honors five times (two first-team), and won three Super Bowls.

He served as the team’s captain for 13 seasons before retiring in 2024. Following his retirement, he joined the Patriots as a special assistant to the head coach.
