BOSTON — The FBI spent Wednesday searching an apartment in the North End, but officials wouldn't say why.
Investigators were in and out of an apartment on Fulton Street starting Wednesday morning, a visual that stunned neighbors.
“I went out to eat, came back and there’s this full on CSI investigation going on,” said Jonny Friedman, a neighbor.
The FBI also interrogated Friedman, who lives on the second floor.
“They did ask a couple of questions about drugs and weapons,” said Friedman.
Friedman says the man in that third floor apartment lived there for about nine months, had lots of visitors coming and going and says he “used to get a ton of packages back and forth.”
Spokesperson Kristen Setera told Boston 25 News the search, authorized by a court, was related to an "ongoing federal investigation."
“There is no threat to public safety,” Setera said. “Due to the ongoing investigation, we’re going to decline further comment.”
Officials also stressed that the public is safe. Neighbors, however, say they were shaken.
“I did hear a bang and I saw them with this big log to break the lock on the door,” said Janet Gilardi.
Right now, Friedman is so unnerved by what’s going on he doesn’t want to stay here any longer.
“I’m kind of planning on moving out tomorrow or the next day and putting my stuff in storage,” said Friedman.
