Fall River man arrested after allegedly assaulting restaurant staff in South Boston

BOSTON — A 29-year-old Fall River man has been arrested and is now facing multiple charges after allegedly physically assaulting staff members at Ocean Prime Restaurant on Pier Four Boulevard in South Boston Thursday.

The Boston Police Department told Boston 25 they responded to a radio call for a fight at the restaurant at approximately 6:20 p.m. Upon arrival, police were able to speak to witnesses who claimed that Jason Wages, 29, of Fall River, started the altercation by harassing a female waitstaff, as well as other customers.

Shortly after Wages allegedly harassed customers and the female waitstaff, other staff members confronted him. Wages then head-butted an employee and called him a racial slur several times before he head-butted another employee and spitting on a third employee before leaving the establishment and threatening to shoot “everyone in the place,” police say.

Witnesses told police as Wages was fleeing the scene, he struck another motor vehicle. Officers responded to a motor vehicle crash on Northern Avenue at the Boston Public Works Building. Shortly after arriving on the scene, they located an unoccupied vehicle that struck a building and damaged a gas line.

Witnesses at the crash scene told police they saw two males fleeing on foot, carrying garbage bags in the direction of Drydock Avenue. Police were able to locate Wages at 22 Drydock Ave. and the second individual in a parking garage at 12 Drydock Ave. Officers were able to seize the two garage bags that contained 53 heat-sealed bags of marijuana as well as $8,600.

Wages was placed under arrest and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D, two counts of Assault and Battery, and two counts of Leaving the Scene Property Damage. Following integrations, the second individual was released.

Wages is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.
