TOPSFIELD, Mass. — A man was found dead Thursday morning after a car was found crashed on the side of a Topsfield street.
Fire officials say a bus driver called 911 around 7:30 a.m. after noticing a vehicle had apparently left the roadway and crashed some time beforehand on Boston Street (Route 1). The car was reportedly pointing northbound along the southbound lane of the road.
Paramedics responding to the scene found a man with serious traumatic injuries, but were unable to help him due to both the severity of the injuries and how much time had passed since the accident occurred, according to authorities. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His identity is not being released at this time.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Topsfield Police, Massachusetts State Police, and the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
Crews remained on scene to mitigate a fuel leak before the car was removed.
