SWAMPSCOTT, Mass. — Authorities are investigating after a worker died Monday afternoon in what officials are calling an apparent construction accident.
Officers responding to the area of 30 Danvers Road around 1 p.m. for a problem in a rock crusher suspended above a quarry found a worker deceased at the scene, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
The victim’s identity is not being released at this time, pending next of kin notification.
The incident occurred at the Aggregate Industries facility. In a statement, the company offered its sympathies.
“We’d like to express our sincere condolences to the family of the individual who passed away at our Swampscott site. This is a tragic and very difficult incident,” a spokesperson said. “The safety of our employees and contractors, and the communities in which we live and work, are our top priority.”
The workplace death is under investigation by the DA’s office, Swampscott Police, Mine Safety and Health Administration, and OSHA.
