11 people displaced, dog rescued after flames tear through Lynn home

LYNN, Mass. — Nearly a dozen people have been displaced and a dog was rescued after flames ripped through a home in Lynn Monday night.

The Lynn Fire Department says they received a call around 7:45 p.m. for a report of a house fire in a two-story dwelling on Laighton Street.

The blaze started in the kitchen, according to officials, and spread throughout the entire first floor, causing extensive damage.

Video shows flames pouring out of the side of the house, climbing all the way up to the second floor.

Crews knocked down the fire in about 20 minutes, according to the deputy chief.

Officials say 5 children and 6 adults were displaced and there were no reports of any injuries. The Red Cross is assisting these people find housing.

A dog was also rescued from the second floor.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
