WARNER, NH — An Epsom woman is facing multiple charges after police say she led officers on a pursuit down Interstate 89 before a standoff brought traffic to a halt in Warner.
According to New Hampshire State Police, the incident began around 8:36 AM Saturday when troopers learned that a driver had fled from a traffic stop attempted by the Lebanon Police Department.
Police said the driver, later identified as Dawn Marquis, 55, of Epsom, continued south on I-89 after Lebanon officers ended their pursuit.
A Grantham police officer later located the vehicle, a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and attempted another traffic stop. Authorities said Marquis again refused to stop, leading to a second pursuit, with state troopers joining in.
During the chase, officers deployed tire deflation devices, damaging at least one tire on the Jeep.
Investigators said Marquis eventually stopped near Exit 9 in Warner but refused to get out of the vehicle. Interstate 89 was temporarily shut down while officers worked to resolve the situation.
State police said troopers attempted to negotiate with Marquis and requested assistance from the State Police Crisis Negotiation Unit after she continued refusing commands to surrender.
Authorities said Marquis eventually exited the SUV but resisted efforts to take her into custody. A State Police K-9 was deployed, and Marquis was ultimately arrested.
She was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
Marquis faces multiple charges, including:
- Felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon
- Misdemeanor counts of disobeying an officer and resisting arrest
- Violations of reckless operation and operating without a valid driver’s license
She is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Hillsborough District Court.
