Duxbury man pleads guilty to distributing child porn on Kik Messenger platform, feds say

BOSTON — A Duxbury man has pleaded guilty to distributing pornographic videos depicting children between 2 and 8 years old on the Kik Messenger platform, the U.S. Attorney said.

Daniel Debreczeni, 35, pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of distribution of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Leah Foley said in a statement on Thursday.

U.S. District Court Chief Judge Denise Casper scheduled sentencing for July 16.

Debreczeni was arrested and charged last August.

Between Nov. 29, 2023 and Dec. 12, 2023, Debreczeni distributed three videos containing child sexual abuse material in a private chat room dedicated to child sexual abuse on the Kik Messenger platform, prosecutors said.

The children in the three videos appeared to be between 2 and 8 years old.

During a subsequent search of Debreczeni’s home, investigators located five images and 19 videos depicting child sexual abuse material on Debreczeni’s Kik account.

For the charge of distribution of child pornography, Debreczeni faces at least five years and up to 20 years in prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
