Driver hospitalized after tractor-trailer crashes into Charles River

NEWTON, Mass. — A driver was brought to the hospital Saturday after crashing a tractor-trailer he was driving into the Charles River. Massachusetts State Police, Weston Fire, and Newton Fire responded to the crash.

Investigators say the driver was on 128N near the ramp from Rt. 95 when they crashed. That driver couldn’t swim and was standing on top of the truck when first responders arrived. The man was brought to the hospital for evaluation.

The truck was carrying U.S. mail, and Massachusetts State Police told Boston 25 News the U.S. Postal Inspectors were notified.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. There are no further details released at this time.
