BOSTON — Firefighters are battling a five-alarm blaze that broke out at a landmark building in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood on Monday morning.
There’s a large emergency response ongoing at the Edison Building at 72 Warren Avenue, according to the Boston Fire Department.
“Companies arrived at 72 Warren St with smoke showing,” the department wrote in a post on X. “Very quickly it has climbed to 5 alarms with all work being conducted from the exterior.”
Video from the scene showed multiple ladder trucks and smoke billowing from the building as crews scrambled to knock down the fire.
Officials urged the public to avoid the Dudley Square area because emergency vehicles surrounded the entire block.
Shortly before 9 a.m., the department said operations at the two-story landmark building were “all outside work.”
It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone was hurt in the fire. Boston 25 News is working to learn more.
Crews are investigating the cause of the fire.
