Chatham police officer, 2 other motorists injured in crash

CHATHAM, Mass. — A Chatham police officer and two other motorists were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Tuesday night, police said.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:42 p.m. on Crowell and Northgate roads.

The three injured people, including the officer, were sent to Cape Cod Hospital.

The crash involved a 2020 Ford Police Explorer, a 2000 Jeep Cherokee and a 2014 Jeep Wrangler.

The police officer suffered minor injuries, police said.

The two other crash victims, the driver of the Jeep Wrangler and a passenger in the Jeep Cherokee, suffered serious injuries, police said.

Police did not release the names of the injured people pending notification of their families.

Crowell Road at Northgate Road is expected to be closed for crash reconstruction and vehicle removal.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes.

The crash is under investigation by the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council’s Crash Reconstruction Team along with the assistance of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office.
