Car crashes into South Boston residence

BOSTON — Residents of a building in South Boston were forced to evacuate after a car crashed into the home on East Third Street, according to a tweet by the Boston Fire Department.

The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday night at 614 East Third St.

The driver of that car was hospitalized, BFD said. Seventeen residents were displaced in total from 614 and 616 East Third St. Boston Inspectional Services is expected to send a structural engineer to evaluate the building.

This is the second time in two days that a car has crashed into a building in the South Boston neighborhood.

Early Friday morning, a driver crashed through the glass storefront of McGoo’s Pizzeria on West Broadway, displacing six residents who lived above the business.
