Business trip to Mass. turns lucky for Georgia man who won $4 million on lottery scratch ticket

Winner bought the lucky ticket in Stoneham, officials say

BOSTON — A business trip to Massachusetts turned out to be very lucrative for one Georgia man, who won $4 million on a $10 scratch ticket, state lottery officials said.

Jovon Garner of Brunswick, Georgia won the first $4 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$4,000,000 Diamonds” $10 instant ticket game, lottery officials said.

Garner, who was in Massachusetts for work, told lottery officials that he chose to play this game because he liked the design of the ticket.

Garner purchased his winning ticket at the Stop & Shop at 259 Main St. in Stoneham. The store will receive a $40,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.

He opted to receive his prize in the form of a one-time payment of $2,600,000, before taxes, lottery officials said. He plans to use a portion of his winnings to buy a new vehicle and a new shed.
