Brockton police officer involved in crash with pickup truck

Police say the truck ran a traffic light and hit the police SUV, which was responding to a call.

BROCKTON, Mass. — A Brockton police officer and two other people were injured in a crash Monday night.

Police say the officer was responding to a ShotSpotter call at the time of the crash, which happened around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Montello and Lawrence Streets.

A pickup truck traveling west on Lawrence Street ran a traffic light and collided with the police SUV, which was heading south on Montello Street with its siren and emergency lights on, according to police.

The officer was treated for minor injuries at Brockton Hospital. The driver of the truck, 57 years old, and his passenger, a 66-year-old woman, were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Police cited the driver of the truck with failure to stop.
