BRAINTREE, Mass. — The Braintree Little League team stays alive in the tournament, beating Texas 7-3 in a crucial must-win game.

After a tough loss to Irmo, South Carolina, Braintree’s 12-year-olds were determined to bounce back in their second game of the series.

The local community rallied behind the team, with Southside Tavern hosting a watch party for fans to gather and show their support.

Tons of folks cheered on as Braintree advanced.

“They’re not deterred, they battled the entire summer so they’ll be ready to go today,” said Steve Pratt, Vice President of Braintree American Little League. “They’re confident, they’re in great spirits, but they also know they’re going to have to play their best game facing a tremendous team.”

Following an early 2-run deficit after the top of the first inning, Braintree bounced back, scoring 3 runs to take the lead.

The scoring didn’t stop there, as Braintree continued to drive in runs, scoring an additional 2 in the second inning, making it 5-2.

Braintree continued to score an additional two runs in the third, making 7-2 for a majority of the game, until Texas added a run in the fifth inning.

Braintree went on to win its first-ever Little League World Series game, as they advance to play either Bonney Lake or Washington Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
