QUINCY, Mass. — A box truck crashed on Interstate 93 near the Braintree Split in Quincy on Friday morning, spilling boxes of produce in the road and snarling traffic.
The crash happened on the northbound side of the highway, near the entrance of the HOV lane, shortly before 4 a.m., according to Massachusetts State Police.
Video showed the truck split in two and perched atop the HOV barriers, with cargo littering the highway.
State police say the truck driver was left trapped in the wreckage. They were taken to a local hospital. No immediate word was available on their condition.
Troopers blocked off the left two travel lanes to accommodate the emergency response.
“Several heavy tows have been called in to extract the vehicle, which is still on site; traffic has been heavily impacted, which will likely continue until the truck can be removed,” a state police spokesperson said.
