BOSTON — Boston police are asking the public for help identifying 56 people they say were captured on surveillance cameras looting a high-end store in Boston.

The front door of Nieman Marcus at the Copley Place mall was smashed, and dozens of people broke in, stealing all the merchandise on the first floor and clearing out about half of the second floor, Boston police said in a news release Thursday.

Looters fled the store with arms full of clothing and stolen items, many loading them into waiting cars.

Boston police posted images of 56 of the suspects on their news blog.

The burglary occurred amid widespread looting across downtown Boston following a night of peaceful protest in name of social justice in the wake of the death of George Floyd, a Black man who was killed by a Minneapolis police officer since charged with murder.

Boston police ask anyone with information about the suspects to contact District D-4 Detectives at 617-343-4683.
