Body of Mass. man found in water near Hampton Beach identified

HAMPTON, N.H. — The person pulled from the water near Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, earlier this week has been identified as a Massachusetts man.

The New Hampshire Marine Patrol identified the victim as 47-year-old Stephen Gelineau, of Lowell. Authorities said the cause and manner of Gelineau’s death was an accidental drowning.

Gelineau’s body was discovered around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the Hampton River.

Authorities said the victim was dressed in fishing attire and believed to have possibly been fishing off the Hampton jetty.
