EASTHAM, Mass. — A waddling of ducklings got a helping hand from police after their mother was struck by a car Tuesday morning.
Eastham Police say they responded to the area of Route 6 near Salt Pond around 7:30 a.m. for a report of a vehicle striking a duck and found that a mother duck had been killed in the crash, but several of her ducklings were running around the roadway.
Knowing the ducklings were in danger, Sergeant Plante, Detective Burnham, and Officer Wagner sprung into action.
After a 45-minute pursuit, the officers finally rounded up the ducklings and transported them to Wild Care Cape Cod.
