MANCHESTER, NH — A man is facing charges after an armed standoff with Manchester Police.
According to police, on Tuesday, around 12:10 p.m., officers responded to a residence on Chestnut Street following a reported domestic disturbance involving an armed individual.
The caller told police that a man she knew had refused to leave her apartment despite being asked multiple times.
Concerned for her safety, she left the home before contacting authorities. She also warned that the man may be armed and had allegedly made threatening statements toward both her and responding officers.
Police identified the suspect as 55-year-old James Klimavich of Manchester. Upon arrival, officers observed Klimavich inside the apartment through a window, holding a knife.
Crisis negotiators attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Klimavich refused to comply with commands to drop the weapon or exit the apartment.
During the standoff, he was seen throwing objects at the windows.
Authorities deployed a drone into the apartment to assess the situation more safely, but Klimavich damaged the device.
After several hours, SWAT personnel breached the apartment windows and entered.
Klimavich eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
He was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
Police said he will face multiple criminal charges, including domestic violence-related offenses and several other charges.
Klimavich is expected to be arraigned at a later date in Manchester District Court.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
