SHIRLEY, Mass. — An investigation is underway in the Town of Shirley after human remains were located Wednesday night.
“At approximately 5:30 p.m. today a group of young people walking in the area of the Maritime Veterans Memorial Bridge reported seeing what appeared to be something consistent with a body part in the water,” the Middlesex County DA said.
Police arrived on scene and confirmed that they located human remains. Foul play is suspected, according to the DA.
As a result of the discovery, the Massachusetts State Police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office are assisting Shirley Police with the investigation.
Police caution that there may be temporary traffic restrictions in the area as the investigation continues.
